Background Story
Our journey began on August 10, 2009 with the news that Mom (Barbara) had fallen while she was visiting with her sister Lynn Lamb in Ft Worth, Texas for the summer. She was taken to Baylor Medical Center Grapevine, where they discovered she had a large mass in her brain. Several tests, days and hospitals later she was in the ICU at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and diagnosed with a giliablastoma brain tumor. The neurologists explained that the size, location and condition of t he tumor prevented any further treatment. He explained that the tumor (and cancer) had taken over the majority of her brain. His recommendation was to move her into hospice care and make her as comfortable as possible. We decided the best place for her was back in Lubbock, Texas (her home town) and receive in home hospice care at Shay's home. And so the journey begins...
