See, today my friend at work had mentioned to me that when her grandfather went into hospice with a similar brain cancer they her and her mother where able to get airplane tickets at a discounted rate if not for free so they could fly from AZ to AK. With this information burning in my brain I made a direct phone call to mom’s in home social worker Kathy and from there I received great news. I will more than likely be able to get a free ticket to go out and see mom one more time before she passes. I cried when I heard this news. I was so thrilled that I could feel my heart and soul leap with joy. I can’t praise God enough on how lucky I truly am!
I will hopefully find out soon when and what I fly. All I know is that everyday God seems to teach me something else and I am never short of being completely amazed on how faithful God is when you trust in Him. I am hoping to be able to come out Labor Day weekend to see mom. I still miss her so much. It is so difficult to be away from her. I call her everyday and tell her I love her and miss her and she in return has been able to tell me how she loves and misses me too. I cherish these moments.
So, for all you others that could be going through the same situation with a direct family member going into hospice with a terminal disease, you have tons of resources available to you if you just ask your social worker. These people are blessings and are a very valuable tool. I never really understood what a social worker did till now but now I can fully support and be thankful for their job.
Family and Friends, once again I will continue to update you and give you status updates on mom. As far as her health the only news I got different is that mom’s tumor is causing her brain to tell her she is NOT hungry. With this my aunt’s (Aunt Lynn & Aunt Nell) and my sister Shay have been having to coheres my mother into eating and tell her the disease is fooling her into thinking she is not hungry and that she does need to CONTINUE to eat. Though I was saddened with this news, I was rejoiced with the fact that I have such a loyal family unit taking care of my mother and ensuring me that Mom is getting exactly what she needs. She also saw her in home nurse as well and a positive report was given from her as well.
Continue to pray and I will continue to keep you informed on mom’s status. From my family to yours, we would like to thank you very much for your prayers and support thus far in my mom’s journey. We love you all. Can’t tell you enough on how lucky we truly are to have suggest a Godly woman as a mother.
I wish you a great early morning?
